Online insurance quote:
What should you look for in a quote?

An online insurance quote is one of the easiest ways to find out what an insurance policy could cover and what it will cost. Most bikers have several needs when it comes to insurances.

One type of insurance will be to cover your tow vehicle. If you occasionally tow your street bike to a distant show, than you mainly need to be concerned with typical coverages such as personal injury, crash damages, and non-crash damage that might occur to your vehicle while in storage or parked in a busy parking lot.

Off-roaders, on the other hand, need to make sure that their coverage will cover damage that might occur while driving down a logging trail to get an off-road riding site. The chance of damage going off-road is significant, and it is critical that you make sure your policy will cover you in the event of rock or log damage that could certainly occur. Remember that lying on an insurance claim is a criminal offense--and they will be looking.

The next type of insurance will be cover your trailer. Trailers vary from small, inexpensive open-air tow behinds, to very expensive (and sometimes air conditioned and heated) large, enclosed rigs. Make sure that when you get an online insurance quote that you are getting coverages that will cover the real cost of fixing--or replacing--your trailer. Typically, paying a little more to get the right coverage will be cheaper than paying out of pocket for a major fix.

Finally, you have your bike insurance. Some states such as Florida do not require bike insurance, but you really have to give this some thought. If you really love your bike and don't want to break the bank to fix it (or replace it) then you should consider insuring it.

Also consider your personal liability in the event of a crash. If you are found at fault for injuring or killing someone you could be sued for everything you have--including future earnings.

Insurance policies are very detailed documents that are tedious and boring to read, but the responsibility does rest on your shoulders to understand the coverages that are in the contract. You don't want to be paying for coverages that won't cover your specific needs.
