Motorcycle Trailer Rentals:
How to Pick the Right Trailer for the Job

Motorcycle trailer rentals are a great way to move your bike around without needing to own and maintain your own trailer. There are several things to consider when looking at a trailer.

One of the first things to keep in mind when renting a trailer is the condition of the mechanicals. Pay extra close attention to the condition of the tires. Frequently, rented trailers will not be maintained as well as they should be. A tire blow out is not only very dangerous, but it also can destroy your bike.

Another thing to keep in mind is the condition of the hitch and safety chains. These should be clean and in good order. Make sure that you have the right size ball on your tow vehicle so that everything goes smoothly when you're hooking up the trailer.

The electrical system is very important for safety in traffic. Brake lights and directionals need to be all in good working order. Sometimes rented trailers are returned with burned out bulbs or worn wires, but it is your responsibility to make sure everything works.

One thing to keep in mind is if the trailer you are renting has a drop gate for loading your bike. If it doesn't, then you will need to get a ramp to make loading and unloading easy and safe.

Tie downs are another important item when renting a trailer. You can usually pick up a set of these pretty inexpensively and they are so much better than using rope.

Renting a trailer is a lot cheaper than buying one and you won't have to worry about storing or maintaining it when you aren't using it. If you can find a reputable rental company that maintains their equipment, than you should have no problems taking your bike where ever you need to.
