Have A Great Story About Getting Caught in the Rain?
Do you have a great story about getting caught in the rain on your bike? Share it! Give us some details...what gear did you have on? What did you want to have on?
There are several things to consider when buying a motorcycle rain suit. One of the first things to look at is the fit and finish of the suit.
It is no fun to be wearing a rain suit that doesn't fit right. As with other riding gear, it needs to be able to provide you with the right amount of freedom of movement. The critical areas include the shoulders and arms as well as the legs and groin.
Some cheaper suits are simply like a rain coat made of a clear plastic-type material that loosely fits over your riding gear. These suits typically incorporate a rubber-like gathering around the wrists and ankles to keep the water out.
Although these suits are usually pretty inexpensive they are generally effective for that quick downpour that you might encounter on an afternoon ride.
Another benefit of these types of suits is that they are easy to store in a backpack or saddlebags. Most times that you ride, it will not be raining all the time. So these suits provide a quick and easy slip-on when the weather gets wet and a quick, easy pull-off when the skies dry up.
The other types of popular suits are waterproof synthetic riding gear. These suits are usually worn as your primary riding gear, but are waterproof as well as abrasion-resistant.
These suits provide several benefits. One is that you get all the benefits of protection from a spill as well as the waterproof protection of a rain suit. These suits are usually more expensive but really accomplish several needs.
So, when buying a rain suit consider your needs and budget and buy the right gear once instead of going cheap and needing to replace it every season.
