ATV Comparisons: What to look for when comparing.

ATV comparisons are a great way to figure out what the best machine is for you. There are a ton of different machines available and by looking at comparisons you can get a good handle on what they have to offer.

Here's a great site that provides ATV comparisons on new and used ATVs.

One of the first things to consider is the needs that you will have from your ATV. The typical needs vary from a workhorse for the farm/camp all the way up to a wild mud-ripping all-out screamer. The way that you can get the most from a comparison is to be able to narrow down the type of ATV you're looking for.

If you are looking for a machine that is going to be used as a workhorse, then you have needs that are specific to load capacity and stability.

The load capacity of a utility machine will vary widely and in a detailed comparison, this will be clearly outlined for you to review. Don't always think that you need to go with the biggest capacity, this is only one aspect of the machine. Use this as one aspect of your purchasing decision.

The wheelbase dimensions are another consideration when looking to carry loads and have a smooth ride. Typically, the longer and wider the wheelbase, the more stable the machine will be. This applies to both utility vehicles and sport quads.

If you are looking at a sport quad, you will have other considerations. Some of these should include things like their performance in various conditions. If you plan on using your machine in heavy deep mud or snow, then you will want to look at a four-wheel-drive machine that will afford you good ground clearance and four-wheel drive.

If, on the other hand, you are looking to get a machine to use in competition or flat-out high-speed riding, then you will want to consider other factors. These include such things as the company's involvement and support of the type of racing that you are doing. This will ensure that you will be competitive and be able to easily get your hands on the right parts.

Flat-out desert riding has its own challenges and will require its own unique equipment, so if this describes your riding needs, make sure that you look at the availability of the parts that you will need to make it fast and fun without breaking the bank.
