Term life insurance: Is it right for you?

Term life insurance (or "term life"_ provides every biker's family and loved ones with peace of mind in the event that you should pass away. Although we all enjoy our bikes, we need to realize that there is a risk associated with all activities.

One thing to consider when purchasing term life insurance are your financial obligations. If you own a home or have children that you want to provide for, then you have to do your homework. Consider your mortgage obligation, car/bike payments, and any other bills that you have. This will give you a rough idea about the amount of coverage that you will need from an insurance policy.

According to wikipedia term life coverage is insurance which provides coverage at a fixed premium for a fixed period of time- the "term". Once the term expires the insurance company can change the terms and conditions of your policy. Usually this means that you can either agree to the new terms that they propose or you can shop around for another company. This is the catch-22 of term coverage-It is usually the cheapest coverage for the first term, but subsequent terms usually either go up in cost or down in benefits.

Term insurance is different than permanent life insurance in that it does not provide consistent coverage- and fixed premiums- for life. Many permanent life insurance products also build a predetermined cash value over the life of the contract. This payout is available for later withdrawal under certain conditions.

Term life insurance is similiar to other types of insurance in terms of meeting the requirements of the contract As an example, car insurance will satisfy claims against the insured in the event of an incident and a home owner policy will satisfy claims against the home if it is damaged or destroyed by, for a natural disaster or fire. These events are uncertain, and if the policy holder discontinues coverage the insurance company will not refund the premium. This is purely risk protection."

This is one of many types of life insurance that is available to consumers. This means that it is critical that you compare your needs from an insurance policy before deciding on which one best fits your needs. It is usually a good idea to consult with an insurance agent that you know and trust before signing a policy. If the agent is knowledgeable and honest, then they should be able to suggest what type of coverage/policy is right for you

Most of us believe that insurance is a waste of money. This opinion usually changes when we have an incident that changes our lives. As the definition suggests, this type of coverage is purely risk protection. This puts the burden on each of us to decide if this is the right type of coverage for our lives.
